Quick Summary:

- Calculate: a calculator that turns your height, weight and a couple of tape measurements into your starting calories, protein, fat and carbs.
- Own it: no analytics, no ads, no pixels in the app. Body data is saved only if you switch it on. Export or delete everything yourself, in the app.
- Pay once: USD 10, access for at least 2 years, 14-day refund for any reason.
Why does this app exist?
Because most men in their 40s can still have the best fitness years of their life, and a training app should be built around that. That means recovery planned in, not willpower. A log that works wherever you train. And your data treated like it belongs to you.
I’m Paolo, 47. I’m not a coach and I don’t write programs. I’m the man this app was built for. I played semi-professional waterpolo until 19, then trained only on and off for about 20 years. At 42 I started a transformation with a coach, and began building real knowledge of training, especially weightlifting after 40. That experience carried me through a complicated chest rib surgery at 44, and on to the best shape of my life. Since August 2026, after a training break, I’ve been running a public comeback, measured every Sunday on the comeback log.
The FitnessForties training app is that log turned into a tool. Same rules: honest numbers, trends over single readings, no rounding up. I train on it myself, in public, and the comeback log is where you can check whether it works.
What makes it different
- Recovery is planned, not hoped for. Every program has deload weeks built in, so you push hard and still recover.
- No signal, no problem. Basement gym with no signal, no Wi-Fi, airplane mode: every set is saved on your phone and syncs later.
- Your data, your rules. No tracking in the app, body data only with your yes, export and delete in one tap.
- No feed, no ads, no nagging. Nothing to scroll and nothing pushing you to upgrade. You open it, you train.
- One price, once. USD 10. No subscription, no premium tier, no upsell.
Train: which program fits you?
All 10 programs run 8 weeks, with lighter deload weeks in weeks 4 and 8 so the hard weeks pay off. Pick by where you train and how many days you have.
| Program | Best for | Days a week | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day One | Starting from zero, or from 20 years ago | 3 | Home, bodyweight |
| The Comeback | Trained before, got interrupted | 4 | Gym |
| The Executive | A full calendar: whole body in about an hour | 3 | Gym |
| The Road Warrior | Travel: short sessions that fit a hotel room | 5 | Anywhere, bodyweight |
| Home Dumbbell Program | Building muscle with a pair of dumbbells | 4 | Home, dumbbells |
| Hypertrophy Max | Size, for men who already train | 4 | Gym |
| Lean & Cut | Losing fat while keeping your muscle | 6 | Gym |
| Strength Builder 5×5 | Getting stronger on the big lifts | 3 | Gym |
| Powerbuilding Hybrid | Strength and size in the same week | 4 | Gym |
| Push/Pull/Legs Split | 6 days, for experienced lifters | 6 | Gym |
Every strength exercise has a short silent animation, and most sets carry a coaching note right under the exercise, such as how to set up or when to make it harder. When a rest or timed set ends, a short gong plays over your music without pausing it.
Last time’s numbers under every set: beat them, or match them in one tap.
Machine taken, or a joint complaining? Swap the exercise for one that works the same muscles, and your progress carries over.
Calculate: where do you start?
With a tape measure, your weight and 1 minute. And once you’re training, your log keeps every set, rep and weight, so your progress in the gym is always on record.
- Your numbers: a calculator that turns your height, weight, waist and neck (plus hip on the Female body formula) into a body-fat estimate, your lean mass, and a starting point for daily calories, protein, fat and carbs. It uses the US Navy tape method and the Katch-McArdle formula, which works from lean mass.
- Honest by design: a tape estimate can be off by a few points, and the app says so. Treat the numbers as a starting point, check your trend after 2 weeks, and adjust.
The calculator works without saving anything. Your measurements and targets are stored only if you switch on body-measurement saving, and switching it off deletes them.
Does it work with no signal?
Yes. Lose the connection mid-session and keep training: every set is saved on your phone first, and a small banner shows what’s waiting to sync. When you’re back online, it syncs on its own.
That was a launch condition, not a nice-to-have. A set you logged and lost is a set you can’t build on, so the app was tested offline on a real phone before anyone else got it.
It runs in your phone’s browser and installs to your home screen like an app: iPhone, Android, iPad or laptop. No app store, no download to approve.
Who controls your data?
You do, from inside the app, without emailing anyone.
| You want to | How |
|---|---|
| Keep body data private | Measurements and targets are stored only after you switch on saving. Switch it off and they’re deleted; your training log stays. |
| Take everything with you | Export downloads everything you’ve logged as plain CSV files, readable by any spreadsheet or AI assistant. |
| Leave for good | Delete my account removes your account and your data, and your contact in my email tool too. |
| Avoid marketing | Training emails are off unless you switch them on. |
What the app doesn’t do: no analytics, no tracking pixels, no ads, no data sold. Your data is stored in Frankfurt, Germany. Payments run through Stripe, so your card details go to Stripe, not to me. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy, written in plain English.
How fast can you start?
About 5 minutes from payment to your first set.
- Pay USD 10 by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link.
- Open the sign-in email and tap the link. Just your email: no password, no profile to fill in, no questionnaire.
- Read the short health notice once, then pick your program.
- Tap the Up next card and start your first set.
No onboarding quiz, no streaks to protect, no notifications nagging you about a missed Tuesday.
Is it for you?
It is, if you’re:
- A man over 40 who trained before and wants back in, or who’s starting properly for the first time.
- Short on time, travelling, or training at home, and still want a real plan.
- Someone who trusts numbers more than motivational quotes.
It isn’t, if you want:
- Meal logging, a food database or a barcode scanner. The app gives you targets, not a food diary.
- A personal coach. The app is a plan and a log, and I’m not a coach.
- Running, cycling or sport-specific training. This is a strength-training app, with a little conditioning.
What’s coming next?
Training with someone is easier to stick to, so the first update after launch is about doing it together. These are planned, not in the app yet, and I’ll update this page the day they ship.
- Gym Buddy seat: one purchase, two seats. Invite your training partner by email; their seat opens the 2 programs built for training together.
- Power Couple: a program for 2 people training side by side, on the same days, with the same plan.
- Full Body 3: a 3-day full-body program for the Gym Buddy seat.
What does it cost?
Once. No subscription, nothing to cancel.
14 days to decide. Use it fully; if it isn’t for you, get every cent back.
- Access: for as long as I run the app, and at least 2 years from your purchase. If I ever shut it down sooner, you get back the part of the price for the time left.
- Refund: within 14 days, for any reason, even if you’ve used it. One email to paolo@fitness-forties.com.
- Who can buy: adults living in Switzerland or the United States, except Washington State. A purchase with another billing address is refunded automatically, and you get an email saying so.
- Payment: card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link, through Stripe.
The Terms of Use are short and in plain English.
FAQ
Is it really one payment?
Yes. USD 10, once. There’s no subscription to renew and no premium tier to unlock.
I haven’t trained in years. Is there a program for me?
Yes: Day One, at home with your bodyweight, or The Comeback, in a gym, starting deliberately light.
Does it work on Android?
Yes. It runs in the browser on iPhone, Android, iPad and laptop, and installs to your home screen.
Does it work on Apple Watch?
Not yet. It runs on your phone, iPad or laptop, and logging works with no signal. Logging a set is one tap.
What happens if I lose signal mid-session?
Keep going. Every set is saved on your phone and syncs when you’re back online.
Can I take my data with me?
Yes. Export gives you everything you’ve logged as CSV files, and Delete my account removes it all.
Is this medical advice?
No. The programs and calorie targets are informational tools, not prescriptions. If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, a joint or back problem, or haven’t trained in years, talk to a doctor first.
Why only Switzerland and the United States?
For now, those are the 2 countries the app is sold in. Washington State is excluded.
